Most tattoos I see are pretty lame. Just names or tacky doodles like you might see scribbled in a notebook, but there many others that are really artistic. If you actually look, you'll see many that are quite beautiful and I'd be proud to wear for the rest of my life. Japanese body suits are a great example. Wish I could afford one.
It's great to have the option to decorate yourself as you see fit, but like most, I agree that it's best to make sure they can be covered. Tattoos that may seem special to you often look tacky to someone when it's not clear why you had it done. They assume that the tattoo has no real meaning and you were just drunk, high, or trying to impress your friends when you got it.
