Mayor Softens His Denial About Running

Mike Bloomberg is possibly the best candidate yet to consider running in the 2008 presidential election. Though I've never met the man, I have spent a fair amount of time learning about his background, character, experience, politics and convictions. I am impressed to say the least. More to the point, he is the one person that possesses the intelligence, tenacity, understanding, wisdom and compassion to lead America. Consider the fact that he has been both a Democrat and a Republican and yet has found the need to repudiate both parties because of their dogmatic devotion to their respective platforms. Some would say he lacks loyalty to the parties. I count that a plus since the special interests of both parties now dominate and own the entire present day political scene and therefore have lost their credibility with most mainstream Americans. Both parties are so diametrically opposed to one another's ideology that neither is willing to negotiate anything of substance with the other in behalf of our country. This has been allowed to continue for far too long. Extremism of any form is not particularly helpful in trying to meet the needs of a democracy. Yet, we tolerate the notion that we only have two choices.

Mike Bloomberg would be a powerful third choice for he has the ability, experience and the financial resources to beat both parties at their own game. With fifty billion dollars or so at his disposal, he will be beholding to no one except the citizens of this nation - including those who choose not to vote for him. A man of demonstrated principle, his role as President of the United States of America, can focus on the real issues facing this nation and not how to repay the special interests who bought and paid for his election. I still believe that honor and ethics in office are essential if one is to lead a nation. I think Mike Bloomberg can restore the reputation and respect of the United States of America within the world (2) redefine our role as the world's superpower in such a way that other nations effectively and materially participate in the governing of world order (3) find reasonable solutions for controlling immigration, funding Medicare and health insurance for all Americans, reviving a staggering economy while addressing legitimate environmental concerns, reestablishing a strong financial foundation and insuring that the government of the people becomes more responsible to its people.

If he chooses to run, I will write my first ever political campaign check in sixty-six years. His banner will be planted in my front yard and I'll offer to help out locally where I'm needed . But don't take my word for it. Do your own research and keep an open mind. Our troops and our country depend on us making the right decision.
