Moving review of a book that I must see for sure. How sad that so many humans have this ultimately frustrated wish: to speak with non-human animals. Communication with our fellows is hard enough but we need to try to bridge the species gap as well! Is this loneliness or just another stubborn need to do what is seemingly impossible? As someone who has had "moments" with songbirds, cats, and even snakes, I am eager to read of Craig Childs' experience of this quest for connection.
