Raines, Trammell Deserve Better Hall Balloting

Submitted by MRS, Jan 4, 2008 19:43

As much as I don't understand the witch hunt against Rice that some people have been on over the last month, I do consider well reasoned arguments against his candidacy. This is not one of them. TM, did you watch baseball in the 1970s and 1980s? Did any of the commenters who agree that Trammell could be compared to Rice or, (tee-hee) Moises Alou (by the way, nice grab of a comparison that was completely discredited when an equally misguided writer tried it on the Dugout Central thread)? Didn't think so.

By the way, I'll give $10 to the first person who can give a convincing argument that (1) 12 great years is "too short," (2) any GM would trade Rice for the likes of Sandberg, Yount, Puckett, Gossage, Sutter, Carter, Fisk etc. etc. from 1975 through 1986 (I'll help, the answer is no unless they were binging on cocaine); or (3) I should continue to be subjected to arguments like this.

I understand people don't like the guy, but get over it. He's a HOFer. Let it be.
