His pop fly beaning aside, Ramirez actually was a very good third baseman most of the time, having improved to an impressive degree during his time with the Cubs. He had good mobility and a strong arm and made his share of standout plays. It's his attitude that makes him a problem player. He's not always motivated, certainly wasn't during the portion of the season before the Cubs tanked.
