The debate implies that those we are appealing to are listening. I don't think that they are.
Their minds have slammed shut and they are beyond any appeal to rationality. I have the greatest admiration for those so called Uncle Toms who persist anyhow in the face of not so much indifference as outright hostility. But of course they persist because they care.
