As a supporter of Barack Obama, I hope he continues to refrain from class warfare. One danger, however, is his suggestion of an increase in the cap on Social Security withholding taxes. This would be quite harmful to the Mahattan economy. Many of those earning over $90,000 are recent Law and Business school graduates, who are burdened with heavy loan repayments for their education. Moreover, their firms would be required to match their contribution which reduce profits and, consequently, city and state tax revenues.

I believe that a careful analyisis of the three actuarial reports submitted to the Social Security Trustees each year might well reveal that no new taxes to keep the fund solvent are required. Barack Obama is doing fine. His campaign should realize that any new taxes could be harmful to the economy.
