Gold Value of Apartments Sinks

Submitted by David, Jan 7, 2008 13:26

The simplest thing is to move out to Queens, still a part of NYC. Head out on the R, V, E, or F, or even the 7 train. Look in Astoria, Jackson Heights, Elmhurst, Rego Park, Forest Hills... there are lots of places with nice safe apartments, renting for half or a third of a comparable place in Manhattan. An added benefit: grocery prices are cheaper, as are most other services. Manhattan is cool, but not if you are on a tight budget. I could probably swing a city apartment, personally, but I choose to live a little way outside, where I can get a good night's sleep and save a few bucks.
