Spitzer Is Set To Cap Taxes on Property

Submitted by John, Jan 7, 2008 17:52

We should commend the Governor and State Legislator for recognizing the need to end our high property tax problem in New York. Steps must be taken at all levels of government to reduce this burden and the citizens of this great state need to accept the fact we cannot pay for all the services we so seek.

Compromise is required by all properties and can occur if we recognize that sacrifice will be needed by all parties. There is no absolute right or absolute wrong. However there is an absolute must, we must cut spending, we must look for ways to improve a system that is bleeding the next three generations of New Yorkers dry.

A "cap". Just think of that and look up the definition on the web:

  • a tight-fitting headdress
  • a top (as for a bottle)
  • detonator: a mechanical or electrical explosive device or a small amount of explosive; can be used to initiate the reaction of a disrupting explosive
  • something serving as a cover or protection
  • a fruiting structure resembling an umbrella that forms the top of a stalked fleshy fungus such as a mushroom
  • ceiling: an upper limit on what is allowed; "they established a cap for prices"
  • crownwork: dental appliance consisting of an artificial crown for a tooth
  • lie at the top of; "Snow capped the mountains"
  • capital: the upper part of a column that supports the entablature
  • restrict the number or amount of;

  • Definition three is what happen when President Nixon put price controls to stem inflation. You want a cap, than you need to cut the expenditures if there is no new revenue coming in.
