You Feelin' Hucky?

You could have elaborated on two paragraphs, these:

In The Wall Street Journal, Peggy Noonan observed of Huck that, "his great power, the thing really pushing his supporters, is that they believe that what ails America and threatens its continued existence is not economic collapse or jihad, it is our culture."

She's right. It's not the economy, stupid. The economy's fine. It's gangbusters. Indeed, despite John Edwards' dinner-theatre Dickens routine about coatless girls shivering through the night because daddy's been laid off at the mill, the sub-text of both Democrat and Republican messages is essentially that this country is so rich it can afford to be stupid —

and almost everyone would have agreed with you.

However, rather than get people into your frame of reasoning, you use the next 28 words to systematically alienate those who....would generally agree, but think the Republicans are the mother of modern deficit spending, ....would generally agree, but think the SCHP is a reasonable support to those who can't afford health care, ....would generally agree, but think illegal immigrants are scape goats or that we are closing the wrong border, given that most terrorists to date have entered through Canada or Europe.

Of course you have a right to your positions. However, you annoy me when you expect me to endure a recitation of your own opinions, instead of making a valid point to the greatest number of readers possible.

If you want to be important, do more than preach to the converted.
