Weiner Sees Stacked Deck on Congestion Pricing Plan

The Mayor has made an attempt at "cleaning house" by yet another announcement that he will clean up 20% of parking placards. There is still no specific means to enforce existing laws in his announcement. Bloomberg has also set up a fox to guard the hen house with just the DOT and NYP in "the working group" organized to develop parking permit enforcement tactics. This is completely bogus - just as Anthony Weiner has pointed out with the Congestion Pricing commission. The Mayor has such a terrible history with illegal parking permit abuse, that he has no credibility when it comes to making any promises about eliminating illegal permit abuse and congestion pricing. Don't you know that 150,000 government sector permit holders will be exempt from Congestion Pricing - the Mayor has made no statement to the contrary. The combination of Congestion Pricing and government sector illegal parking is a disaster in the making. Community Boards 2 and 3 have requested permanent No Permit Parking signs in their neighborhoods - now that would be a good start for the Mayor to begin eliminating parking permit abuse.
