you should know the facts before you comment on certain issues. first of all, the medical liability insurance companies in ny state are practically bankrupt. only one, mlmic, is solvent at this point, and going down fast due to the crisis in the medical liability environment. second, it is not physicians and their attorneys that are costing the system, but nuisance lawsuits the are bankrupting the system. it costs the liability companies millions to settle suits that are mostly unfounded, just to make it go away. it is so easy to sue a physician with some many lawyers willing to do so. thirdly, physicians do police themselves.and try their best to rid the profession of its dangerous doctors.
