O wow...I was on Towelroad and came across this sad anecdote on Mel. What great memories I have. Loved that song HOT SHOT and McArthurs Park by Donna Summer; I love to hear it every New YEAR on the Dance Floors of New York. A legend for sure on a trend that has stuck around the turntables till this day, the 12 inch. I remember going to a record store on the lower eastside at a very young age and asking the young sales guy, "Do you have a 12 inch." Well, he looked at me funny, and then said, " by who." Mel was a master and financially backed one if not the only most memorable musical nightlife atmospheres in New York City history, The Paradise Garage. Say so long to an era that was Mel Cheren, but leaves a legacy truly to be celebrated until the end of time. He is one HOTSHOT legend.
