Congress Members Get Pay Raise, to $169K

Submitted by Dennis Lesko, Jan 10, 2008 10:34

Why is it that if the Senators and the Congressmen/women are elected by the voters of the states they represent, that they are not treated as state employees rather than Federal employees.

Wouldn't it be nice if the citizens that elect these "representatives of the people" were the one's in control of how they are paid, how much they are paid, which benefits they are to receive and all done through the voting function in each district?

I think then and only then would we have term limits, especially if the voters of their district could choose to reduce their pay and compensation package (or raise it if warranted) based upon their effectiveness representing the people that not only elect them but are really their employers.
