It strikes me, in the review of "Beaufort" film by Mrs. Judith Miller, the idea that the Masada episode of resistance to Titus and the Roman army would be a "Zionist myth". As far as I'm concerned, it was an historical fact, albeit embellished since Flavius Josephus' times, and certainly adopted by Zionist mythology (there have been several polemics about that, including the well known writings by Professor Nachman Ben Yehuda or by Professor Joseph Zias). But at the core, there are historical facts. I'm afraid that just mentioning Masada as the source of a myth (that is, an invention) lately adopted by Zionism is rather too simplistic, albeit effective for the article.
