Record companies still charge a 9-13 dollar profit per cd at the few places they still sell them, I only get used ones at garage sales myself - do not feed the lawyers, by purchasing cd's from sources affilliated with (RIAA). I'm satisfied with music from the internet or my own collection, and do like the new stuff I get from some of the music video shows. CD's have always been a dissapointment. One cut you sort of like and
hope you like the rest, and usually they dont stock or would have to order what I do like.
The RIAA has done everything they can to screw up internet music distribution including jamming the peer to peers with garbage, feeding out fake cuts with 30 second clips repeating, I think most of the peer to peer figure out who they are and blacklist them now. They really dont add any value to music. Even most performers (example Tom Petty) hate them and their contracts. Most of the new stuff I get anymore is
from video sources. Record every music show and pick through whats in my recording. MTV for example is at least 60% advertisements, but not if I record and filter it.
Buck a song? maybe but that price seems inflated to me if ??90%?? of it doesnt go to the performers.
