NYC & Co. consistantly says, "tourism is great". They have the worst reputation in the industry. The staff is unknowledgeable - reason they need to go "ask a New Yorker" instead of using own staff. Membership has no retention. Has anyone ever looked at their membership? Not one single member in my neighborhood? They don't help the small biz person and they don't help the hotel community. Look at all the hotels which have closed over the past couple of years and turned into condos. Look at the ground breaking on the future marriott in Harlem they made a big deal about. Never happened. NYC & Co. needs to be looked at internally. It's a poor operation of political hacks and uneducated employees.
