Bush Urges Saudi Arabia To Boost Oil Production

Submitted by Scott Baker, Jan 16, 2008 11:18

The sight of President Bush genuflecting in front of Saudi leaders - the same ones, more or less, who were in power when 15 of the 19 9/11 terrorists were Saudi - is disgusting, disgraceful and depressing. It reminds me of the scene in Oliver Twist where Oliver wanders up to the orphanage cook, asking for more gruel; "Please, Sir, I'd like some more, please." Ugh. Instead of kissing Prince Salman's hand, we should be saying to him, "charge whatever you think you can get away with for your oil, but don't be surprised if you wake up one day to find the U.S. has gone nuclear, clean-coal and wind and solar-powered, with our cars running on electric, compressed air and flywheels. Oh, and by the way, you can keep buying our weapons, but you'll have to protect your own selves from Iran from now on. America has left the building...and Iraq." Greater Arabia is literally swimming in petrodollars. They spend next to none of it on educating their people - New Scientist this month pointed out that scientists per capita in the Arab lands are among the lowest in the world - they continue to fund the most violent, divisive branch of Islam, Wahabism, and, as pointed out by Maureen Down in the N.Y.Times this morning, when asked about Human Rights, the response of their leaders is, "What? What human rights?" It's time we got off the oil spigot and started innovating our way to a new and prosporous America again. Oh, and I bet the voters in Michigan would be much happier to hear about infrastructure and green energy jobs coming their way than the overworn bromides and platitudes offered up by the Republican candidates. If we redirected our money here at home instead of into hopeless wars that we have no business fighting, we could do that.

ENERGY INDEPENDENCE NOW!
