Ms. Magazine Decision Is Called 'Contemptible'

Submitted by Dena Barisano, Jan 16, 2008 12:53

I don't know if Ms. Spiller's comments were taken out of context, but I will follow up and email Ms. a query. As a longtime subscriber, feminist and Jewish woman with an Italian last name, I have to say I have found no anti-semitic or anti-Israel reporting in Ms. Actually I learned about the organization "Seeds of Peace" from Ms. That being said they do cover a lot of stories about women in countries which are hostile to Israel, but that has nothing to do with being Anti-Israel. They don't charge for advertisments from nonprofit groups but they have a right I'm sure to reject advertising for whatever reason as do most publications. If they were being biased toward this Jewish Organization they should have a good reason but I guess in the end, it is their editorial judgment call. Also I'm unclear if this organization that was refused was indeed a nonprofit charity or a political action group, which would be helpful. However, please note, won't be cancelling my subscription any time soon after reading this piece in your publication. I need more facts from unbiased sources. Sincerely, Dena Barisano
