New York Spanish, a New Dialect, Rises

The Spanish language in New York City and elsewhere in the United States should, obviously, be influenced and changed by English, the dominent language. Also, this reflects the infiltration of English into American Spanish as a result of education at English-language educational institutions in the United States. Contrary to a commonly-held belief, there are very few American-born Hispanics who know or speak, and certainly read and write Spanish better than English, even if they continue to speak and use it in family , street, and social situations.

The emergence of an American dialect of Spanish is also something that in the absence of an ideology about and of immigration should be obviously comprehendable. They are living in a specific territory, they are mixing with Spanish-speakers from different countries, and are also being exposed to the English, the culture, and the English-language educational institutions of the United States. American English is in fact changing the Spanish-language and Spanish-culture of Hispanics in the United States.
