A university has only one president; the individual colleges and schools within the university have deans. Linda Fried will be the dean of the Mailman School, not its president.
(Admittedly, this distinction can seem a bit fuzzy at Columbia, where the heads of Teachers College and Barnard College are both called president. But TC and Barnard are both legally separate entities. Columbia's other schools, including the Mailman school, are part of the university and thus have deans.)
