Likely part of the problem is a hold-over, a lingering remnant of the mistaken, twisted reading of New Testament passage, I Timothy 6:10, which reads, "For the love of money is the root of all evil." Unfortunately, that tidbit of wisdom was long ago perverted to, "Money is the root of all evil," and though the number of those claiming to be Christian, or "God-fearing," has astronomically dwindled over the past 50-plus years, there is still that vestige of suspicion that somehow what Gramma said is really true--whether or not she actually ever voiced the misquote. The other major part of the problem is that a truly free market would severely diminish the power of politicians, and those "professional societies" of which the Right Reverend Dr. Pereira speaks, and is a member. The politician and, or government official who actually knows and embraces the truth that, less government and more free enterprise is the best of all possible social structures, is indeed rare, if one exists at all anymore. Reagan was the last national figure to possess even a modicum of recognition of this much maligned truth. Not only does free enterprise feed more people, it also, if left unfettered, would provide vastly superior health care, and environmental protection, and infrastructure(s), and...
