Slight of King Could Linger for Voters
in response to reader comment: Black support for Obama could wane

Submitted by anonymous, Jan 17, 2008 17:44

Hillary comment were in no way a slight of any sort to mlk memory. She simple atated the fact that is was LBJ as president who pushed for the civil rights amendment. Yes absoultly MLK was a leader of the movement to get it done, but he was not a legislator. Those who took offense are simply wrong. Jesse Jackson Jr., Obama's campaign manager and made reference to HRC tears after the New Hamshire primary on national TV. Mr. Jackson said that Hillary did not shed a tear for the victims of Katrina. Mr, Jackson implied that hillary did not care for the mostly Black victims of Katrine. He said this in spite of the fact the Bill Clinton was instrumental with Gerge Bush for raising Katrina funds. I think that is absolutly outrageous that O'bama did not apolgize for the remark or at least publicly repremand Mr. Jackson. Can he not control the members of his campaign, The remark was obviously made to gain the African American vote that was expected to be heavy in South Carolina. If the press is going to continually bash HRC for what I think is a innocent remark, the press should put pressure on O'bama to apologize for jesse Jackson Jr. remark. The contant banter about the MLK remark is nothing but the OBama's campaign attemp to take any African American support from HRC. This posture is about as low as politics can go and it is worng.
