A Dealer in the Ivory Tower

I have to admit I haven't read this book yet, but just from the review, I kept thinking about another book, titled The Mole People" written by another researcher. She went into the various levels of the subway tunnels in New York where the homeless live and there found all sorts of different communities. But it was very dangerous at times. I'm sure Mr. Venkatesh exposed himself to some serious danger.J.T. may have offered his protection, but I'm sure other rival gangs wouldn't care if he was a researcher or not. I admire people who can do this sort of work. It takes great courage.
