What research. I read the book. I looked at all the material I could. I didnt see ANY research. WHy? The only research they did was actually polling about what people wanted - what phrases would be most appealing. They did NOTHING -- not ONE survey - on common sense things that a rational person would call "research". For example, did they call nursing home administrators, to ask if they could charge 23% sales tax? NO. They they ask what the nursing home would do if the tax was imposed? WOuld they hire lobbyist to change it?
Did they ask new home builders if they could charge 23% extra on new homes? No. Did they ask economist what 23% extra tax on new homes would do to buyers? Would those buyers pay 400K for a 330K new house, or go buy a used home? No. DId they ask renters if they would object? No. Did they ask defense contractors? No. Did they ask car manufacturers? No.
There is so much wrong with this plan, its pathetic. It cant work. I think Boortz and others know this - they arent this stupid. But they know there is a sucker born every minute.
