Bloomberg Assails Those Who Embrace 'Xenophobia'

Submitted by Descendant of immigrants, Jan 18, 2008 18:08

The mayor is arguing by using the same generalizations used by all people who are against controlling the borders. The desire to control the borders is not xenophobic. The wish to deport people who are in the U.S. illegally and working illegally under false, stolen social security numbers is not xenophobic. The wish to control the numbers of legal foreign workers who are too often used by big corporations (like the Mayor's) to displace and lower the wages of U.S. citizen workers (H visas, L visas) is not xenophobic. The desire for the U.S. to be less dependant on foreigners in general is not xenophobic.
