Israel's Lesson in War

Submitted by steve, Jan 19, 2008 11:55

I totally don't get it. What was wrong with the war against Lebanon?
The Hesbollahs were shooting rockets at Israel every day. What was Israel to do, just ignore them?
Israel had three choices:
1- accept that enemies would attack them with impunity.
2- send soldiers to try and stop the Hesbollah fighters while trying not to hurt so-called non-combatants,
3- Look at it as if Lebanon had formally declared war on them and flatten every building in Lebanon that might be hiding fighters or weapons.

Frankly, choice number three would have been the safest. The IDF could have done that safely from the air without losing many soldiers.
And I would have voted for any American politician that would have supported Israel in defending themselves in that way.
