Obama Racks Up Tactical Victories, but ...

After 8 ghastly years of George Bush, how could the Democrats not chose the next President of the United States? By nominating Hillary Clinton and having to endure 4 or 8 more years of Clintons.

I'm a white woman of retirement age, living in San Francisco, who attended a woman's college. Hillary is capable in many ways, but the way she and Bill twist facts makes them terrible decision makers. Bill made major mistakes in the White House. Hillary has made major errors in her decisions and votes in the Senate. I think it comes from too many years of dancing around the truth to make it more politcally palatable. For all that they are both bright people, there is something missing at the core - something ethical and moral - forget all of the religous blather they spout.

The Clintons have had their hours upon the stage for too long. I voted for Bill Clinton both times he ran. I supported him during the Lewinsky debacle. But in looking back at his presidency, I blame much of what happened during the Bush years on mistakes he made as president - like not improving our foreign intelligence, and letting radical Muslims regroup after bombing the World Trade Center in 1992. The reason he didn't have the political clout to take care of the US was because of his own personal shortcomings, and Hillary's tendency to make people angry.

Every time I see them on TV, they annoy me more. And I'm from Arkansas. After Bill's disastrous and cowardly "Don't ask, don't tell" politcy in the military, how can gays and lesbians really support this couple who talk out of both sides of their mouths when it's politically expedient?

In the 50 years since I was 18, I've voted for only one Republican - Barry Goldwater. But I am about to vote for another - John McCain if Hillary is nominated as the Democratic candidate. I am a Barack Obama supporter. I think the race-baiting that Bill and Hillary have been doing is abominable and shows them for their true colors, once more.

And I think that having the former president of the US use his power and prestige to discredit Barack Obama reduces Bill Clinton's standing in history. I wish they both would retire from public life and let a new generation take over who have some fresh ideas and ability to talk straight and make good decisions.

Instead, they've called out their old attack dogs, James Carville and Terry McAuliffe, to once again Karl Rove the other democratic candidates. The Clintons are no better than Karl Rove and just as disastrous for American well being.

I can't imagine any thing worse than having to listen to that couple for 8 more years. And I'm a lifelong Democrat who has been an ardent supporter of women's rights my entire professional career. Wake up Democrats. You are about to shoot yourselves in your prinary - again!

If by any chance Hillary should be elected, I think she would set professional women back - not move them forward. Right now, what she really represents is a woman who has to send her husband out as her pit bull and hatchet man. I'm deeply offended by her behavior and by Bill's. Nothing could convince me to vote for her and send a message that her and Bill's behavior is OK in the heat of political battle.
