Obama Racks Up Tactical Victories, but ...

Submitted by Dawn Vinciguerra, Jan 21, 2008 10:38

I think this is a very well developed article but I agree with Obama's words that the choice is between the past and future. I confess, as a 62-year-old woman from NH that I have re-discovered the audacity of hope. I believe in what Obama is saying and what he is offering and I am writing this to ask you to believe again along with me. We have listened to promises before, gotten excited before, only to find that nothing changed. The political system has always remained intact and we have still been on the outside looking in. But this year things seem different. I feel the glow of that old hope and that old belief that we, together, across party lines, and across state lines can effect real change. But, first of all, we have to believe that Barack Obama can actually make a difference and we have to believe in our own power to make that happen. We have to believe that our neighbors and friends of all races, creeds, political parties and states can and will join together and take back our country from the politicians who think they can continue to keep us down and so engaged in fighting to survive that we forget that we are the ones with the power!!! In voting for Barack Obama, I am voting for someone who sees the bigger picture of a united country. We, the people, all stand together to protect what is ours. We, the people, reach out for global understanding and peace. We, the people, have a right to have a say in how we are governed. And we, the people, have to finally throw off the apathy we have developed over the years and take a chance. We, the people, have a real shot at change with someone we can believe in. I know that the choice is a tough one and that President Bill Clinton has a great legacy of his own, I voted for him myself, but despite the feeling that it is Hillary's turn and that our loyalty should be for her, we know in our hearts that she is part of the political machine we struggle against. She is the politics of the past and Obama is the politics of the future. Don't be afraid. We do have the power. Please join this old NH woman in voting for Barack Obama. Don't let this chance to make a real difference in the world slip away.
