"Breaking the Spell" is not hostile to religion. It is not an attack on religion. It is an objective analysis of religion. What is said in this book is based on logic and objective analysis. It is not based on Daniel Dennett's dislike of any religious person or on emotion. I think Adam Kirsch shows hostility toward those who who objectively discuss religion. Indeed his comments about being irritated seem to indicate his hostility. We should all remember to question boldly even the existence of a God. For if there be one, he must more approve the homage of reason than that of blindfolded fear. We should therefore welcome Dennett's book as an ongoing questioning of the existence of a god. This is true whether we be a so-called believer, one who disbelieves, or one with an open questioning mind.
