How Giants Can Beat the Patriots — Run

While its no doubt true that opponents largely abandoned the run late in games when behind, its also no doubt true that they threw in the occasional draw, which went for good yardage, since the Pats were focussed at that point on stopping the pass, boosting the yards/carry against figure.

Game theory tells you a mixed strategy is always best. Anybody who's ever played Stratomatic football can tell you, mix up your runs and passes so the Pats can't guess what's coming. The Giants would do well to run a good fraction of the plays, and pass not too far from half the time.
