Clinton's Big Tax Hike
in response to reader comment: Scary isn't Correct, "Crooks" is the more fitting Title

First off, I completely agree with feelings of animosity toward illegal aliens. However, if they're an illegal immigrant, I really don't think they are all paying taxes, i.e. they're working under the table. If they had a SSN and were on a payroll of a company.... wait, how would that happen exactly, because it's definitely not a corporation employing them that way. Furthermore, our goal should be in controlling immigration, not concerning ourselves with possibly sharing our prosperity. And, as Mrs. Clinton pointed out in March of 2006, to attempt to OVER control and/or to attempt to deport over a million people is basically ludicrous, costly, ineffective, and would turn this country into what she refers to a "police state". I am most certainly not stating it does not need to be regulated, because it really, really does, but it sounds like someone has a certain underlying extra hatred toward them for some reason. (also all of our ancestors were at one point immigrants don't forget) Secondly, "lazy bottom feeders of society"? You are joking right? How high is your nose exactly that you think you are better than everyone else. Furthermore, how do you have the audacity to even think, let alone make an argument of, that people that are less fortunate than apparently you are and do not make as much money are lazy? Sure some are, but I assure you it's not even half. Let me tell you something, my mother was a single mom raising me, with no child support payments or welfare or anything else. She worked long and hard to support the two of us and because of that I grew up mostly alone and took care of myself. Yet we were still, as you can imagine (well from your statements I guess you can't actually) we were still only slightly above the poverty level. Now I have busted my butt my entire life, working at least 40 hours a week (sometimes over 60) every week putting myself through college so that I can do better and now as a fairly recent graduate I am fortunate enough to be making more than most of my peers. There are women and men and young adults out there who work and work and work to SURVIVE, not to enjoy buying a nice luxury BMW or a gas hogging SUV! ... Oh and by the way, my college was a lot more expensive to make it through thanks to G. W. Bush being president my entire time there. As another commenter here pointed out, reducing all the subsidies, tax breaks/incentives, and corporate preferences that republicans like to offer actually is a good thing, especially when it involves foreign markets. Why do you think you have such a high unemployment rate, especially when it's manufacturing jobs that are gone. You think it's due to a high tax at the highest 1% of the population. (that's right ONE percent, that's it) If that were the case, let's see, Bush has been president for how many years now favoring big business and oil companies and such. Yet somehow, they keep going away... Wait, what? News Flash! It's cheaper to do business in other countries... labor is cheap and the businesses are once again avoiding taxes. Hmm.. less taxes paid by the rich forces people with less money to pay more of the taxes (which still have to get paid somehow) ... which generates less money into the government creating more debt and less money people have to spend which creates lower sales and revenue to the business so they have to cut costs... and employment more... do you see now how it's a trickle down, circular effect which affects EVERYONE! Ahh..... the truth can set you free my friend. It affects EVERYONE! So you can sit there all smug and not be willing to help the economy yourself... but it's going to do everyone, including you, harm in the long run. Oh And you're in Michigan right? Did you know Michigan not only has that high unemployment rate you mentioned, but a very low education rate? Ha, imagine that. And the phenomenal Bush with his No Child Left Behind... yeah, how's that working out for you guys? And not that this matters for any of my aforementioned statements but, Bill Clinton had one of the wealthiest, most prosperous, greatest economic times in the history of this country, and the moment Bush took office it steadily decreased. AND DON'T Blame 9/11 solely for the recession, because if you actually study economic data you can see that several factors decreased (or increased the bad way) greatly from the end of 2000 and the first half of 2001, 9/11 only made things worse, but they were already getting quite bad. See, this is what happens: The Republicans make the rich get richer and poor get poorer until finally the people have enough of it and get a Democrat to fix the economy. The Democrats get this country moving again, people get wealthier, then along come the Republicans saying they'll cut taxes and give breaks to everyone making money, so everyone says yeah, that sounds good. And the cycle then continues. While this doesn't matter to you I'm sure but for records sake, I'm actually not a full democrat... I'm a centrist; I see both sides and some (but few) republican ideas I do agree with. And as for my knowledge of the economy, my aforementioned degree is in Economics, more specifically focused in Economic Development and I study greatly both Public Policy and Urban Developmental Economics.
