The Presidential Race

I just don't understand your dismissal of Ron Paul. (I do thank you for noting that he does exist, however.) I will cede that Paul attracts a lot of diverse people, and some of them less than savory, but I don't know of any candidates who do not. There are powerful lobbies behind all of the major candidates, some of them entirely disreputable; and there are, clearly, some disreputable people behind all of the candidates. If you want a listing, I'll send it--but most people recognize this fact. Using "guilt by association" is a very poor way to argue a point, and a very poor way to indict a candidate. Moreover, the Sun seems to take issue with the foreign policy that is being advocated by Dr. Paul. Is war a foreign policy? Because he does not advocate war, and does advocate non-interventionism (don't confuse it with isolationism, please, because that phony argument won't work), are you dismissing him on that basis? Oh, people will not state it this way, but all the major candidates are pro-war, pro-interventionism, pro-meddling, and more than happy to support the lobbies and take the public's money to fight a hundred-years' war (like McCain advocates) while Americans are losing the shirts off their backs. My advice to the Sun: Start studying the relationship between economics and warfare and the meaning of Empires (and how they fail). Empires, and nations, fail because of economic reasons, primarily, but also because of the domestic infighting that results among the populace. (Remember, a nation divided against itself cannot stand?) Fully 65-70% of the public want this war to end; and a significant number of people are concerned about righting this economy. In both instances, the U.S. is due for a major overhaul. Either Ron Paul, or an outsider who shares his view on the war and his expertise on economic and monetary policy, can correct the national course. Today's candidates (excluding Paul) are unfit to tackle the challenges ahead.
