I'd like to address McCain's global warming approach, and his chances against the Dems. McCains policy to restrict the economy with global warming rhetoric is the worst solution to the problem. It will send 'dirty' energy such as coal and oil to our biggest competitors and worst polluters. China for example. So the net polution rises, while our economy fails. This can also be shown to indirrectly affect the military power. The most money will buy the most powerful weapons. Romney on the other hand also sees the need to get us off foreign oil and has discussed the need to transition to alternative energy. He understands that destroying the economy will destroy the driving force of innovation in this country, research and development. I ask you when the last time a government official developed an alternate energy form? furthermore when people are faced with taking food off the table to spend more money on cleaner energy the choice is rhetorical. Regarding the chances against the dems...It is true that McCain has consistently polled better than his rivals vs. the dems. In contrast Romney gains points and closes the gap more each week. As he gains name recognition and familiarity among voters he closes the gap each week. Look at how he has gained support in each state thus far, it has been a slow methodical rise. There is no indication that he has peaked. Finally the 15 point spread referenced in the article is old. The latest spreads are 5 points and 9 points. Finally McCain has left two lies in the last week that are appalling. First, the outright denial that he has RECENTLY discussed his lack of understanding of the economy. Second, his attacks that Romney supported a timetable for withdrawal from Iraq. Romney supported timetables associated with goals. He did not in any way mention withdrawal with regards to time tables. This exposes to me that McCain is running out of campaing ideas, so he has to misrepresent his own words and those of his opponents. I hope that this will balance the propaganda portrayed in the above article, so we can avoid McCain climbing the goverment ladder!
