It's absurd how enthusiastically right wing pundits forgive and forget the mistakes and ideological deviations from Giuliani and Romney, but condemn McCain to hell for his. Pure hipocrisy. Mitt Romney was pro-choice and in favor of gay rights as recently as 2 years ago. Mitt Romney previously condemned Reagan/Bush and proudly boasted of his being an independent at the time. Mitt Romney raised taxes over $700 million in Massachusetts. Mitt Romney passed a healthcare bill that included "government mandates". Mitt Romney is proposing additional government spending and intervention in the automobile industry, ethanol, and the insurance industry (all of which reflect his pandering to voters on a state by state basis). Mitt Romney is as conservative as Michael Bloomberg. Get your heads out of the sand.

McCain has a decades long record as a REAL conservative. Why should he be condemned for his independence from the Republican/conservative bandwagon? From the moment Republicans retook Congress, Republicans and conservatives have steadily and undeniably turned away from conservative principals. The largest expansion in government under the Bush administration and "conservative" congressional leadership is not conservative. Cutting taxes without the intention to control spending is not conservative. The unethical, corrupt, and sometimes outright disgusting behavior of "conservative" icons such as Delay, Abramoff, Craig, etc., the gigantic role of lobbyists and vote buyers, and the quid-pro-quo economy of Congress are not conservative. The incautious and reckless administration of the War in Iraq is not conservative. The demonizing of bipartisanship is not conservative. I think the conservative movement needs to go back and reread their history books and study Reagan and Goldwater again to rediscover real conservatism. The ideological, dogmatic, and intolerant brand of conservatism made popular by the Christian Right and right-wing punditry is destroying our party and the conservative movement, particularly considering that so-called "conservatives" have not stayed true to their ideals in at least a decade. John McCain was part of the Reagan revolution and has stayed true to the cause.

John McCain brings not only strong conservative principals, but the character to LEAD and ACCOMPLISH. To unite our country and spread the word on conservative ideals to those who previously did not understand them.
