Each person on the Republican side has merit (and I just like Sen. Obama--although his direction for this country is not "right").
I trust that the Republican candidate will eventually win--and be fiscally and socially conservative. I offer a suggestion to all as to the illegal immigrants, who want to remain here, many of whom are bringing up their children as Americans...These children should not be deported to some "foreign" country and culture! I truly intuit that deep, irreversible psychological trauma would occur, if these children, and young people are declared "illegal" and removed from our nation. Those of us conservatives, who are "pro-life"--want to save children, do we not? Such children of whom I speak--through no possible fault of their own--are already born, and largely raised in the United States of America.
My humble suggestion is for our lawmakers to consider with compassion these young people, as well as their parents--who did enter our shores illegally. Permit them to be documented, work, and pay their share of taxes; and so long as they continue to obey our laws: do not hurt their families. They should pay a penalty--such fees perhaps to be used to teach all immigrants our English language, history, etc.
Furthermore, I propose a "sponsor after the fact" voluntary program to be implemented for American citizens, who have befriended illegal immigrants over the years, and want to act as their "sponsor after the fact". Such friend can be a mentor in helping the immigrant family learn about our culture, help bear the responsibility for the immigrants to follow the rules of their immigration procedure, etc. The plan should be one that instills pride and dignity within all. Their status as to eventual citizenship--should be fair to them, and, particularly, to those who have followed the legal path throughout the process.
Criminality must be curtailed--and among illegal immigrants--treated with appropriate strength.
Thank you.
Nancy Joyce Jancourtz.
