I aplaud their effort but, their plan does absolutely nothing to mitigate the inevitable tweaking that led our one-time flat tax system to become the hellishly Byzantine system we currently have. The Fair Tax addresses that very problem. End of story.
I'm sorry that so many CPAs will lose such large chunks of their business when the Fair Tax passes but, I would rather see that happen than to continue seeing so many people more afraid of IRS audits than they are of being mugged.
By they way: No one who has offered a negative opinion of the Fair Tax so far has impressed me that they are anything other than afraid of real change. There are well over 100 economists at both small and major colleges and universites around the country who embrace the Fair Tax as the only rational solution. Either get on board or stand aside.
