Obviously, Ms. Shlaes doesn't remember the Sixties. The second half of the decade was horrible. Everybody was either angry or depressed. People were dying like flies in Vietnam, riots rocked the cities, leaders were assassinated, and the economy started to go sour. The first half of the decade was a happier time, except we almost had a nuclear war over first, Berlin, and then Cuba. And then of course the President was murdered.
