By no means do I agree with Mr. McWhorter on ALL issues and positions--of course, neither do I agree with Reagan's position on all issues. As many a wise person has pointed out over the millennia, it would be not only strange, but downright scary, if I did; however, I sh'll leave that for another comment. Notwithstanding the foregoing, it is about time--indeed, way beyond time--that a 100% African American, with all of the ethnic credentials possible, and plenty on the intellectual and academic side too, boldly stated what should have always been obvious: If black/African American men and women are ever to SEE themselves as truly equal with white/caucasian/Euro men and women, they are going to have to accept all of the same, standard, possible criticisms, prejudices, and inequities of life, to which all other people are subject. In other words, stop playing the race card.

Thank you, Mr. McWhorter, for being the stand-up sort of guy who fears not stating the truth, even when it is grossly unpopular, and even, in some cases, dangerous.
