Perhaps this analysis should have looked at offers of admission, not matriculations. Of students cross-admitted at H-Y and H-P, many will not choose to go to Harvard. Given the very small sample sizes, this is suspect.
Furthermore, many qualified students would rather go to Princeton or Yale, and won't bother spending the $100 to apply to Harvard.
A better formula to satisfy the yuppie parents would be:
10*%of class that goes to HYP or MIT/Caltech + 5*%of class that goes to another Ivy +3*%of class that goes to a near ivy - 20 * %of class that drops out - 10* % of class that doesn't go to college
