Let me begin by saying that there is no greater fan of the Sun than me. Always staunchly on the right side of most issues this publication has brought some much required balance to the New York reportage scene. So imagine my shock and disappointment at learning of this "survey" which has enough methodological and conceptual errors for an entire conference on sloppy analysis, bogus causality and the dangers of innumeracy. The idea that a halfway educated person could claim with a straight face that the two random criteria of assets and Harvard admissions are the sole, immutable and defining criteria of scholastic quality is so bizarre that my first reaction was that this was a continuation of the Sun's series of satirical articles. What makes this even stranger is the editorial page's long-standing criticism of the depredations of Harvard-from the drumming out of Lawrence Summers, the Prof. Gates debacle, and the take-over of the school's faculty by far-left faculty. John Allen Paulos where are you?!
