City Hall Is Site of Clash Over Khalil Gibran

A humanist Christian all his life, Kahlil Gibran would without a doubt be upset at the misuse of his name as aseeming figleaf for a questionable 'academy' that seems to be promoting divisiveness, not education. Perhaps the inception of this strangely reticent public school was created in amity and the accord suitable for an educational institution bearing the great name of gibran. But it does not seem so to outside observers. Teacher defections. Children being mishandled. Deficient compliance with special-needs children. Three successive principals in a not-so-merry-go-round in a mere five months.
