Gay Republicans Flock To McCain on Giuliani Exit
in response to reader comment: Gays Flock to McCain

I would think that gay republicans would be more likely to supprt Ron Paul who is a strict constitutionalist and believes that we should not legislate morality.

The question, however, should not be about whether one should support same sex marriage but as to why the government is involved in marriage in the first place. Marriage is either a social custom, a religious practice, or both and as such has no business being regulated by the government. Government should get out of the regulation of our private lives, our religious practices and our social customs. Gay people should be challenging the the constitutionality of marriage and marriage regulations in general. Marriage should be eliminated as a legal practice and institution. Any marriage that needs asset protection can be set up as a business partnership because that is what it is. There isn't any reason that ANYONE should get any societal or economic advantages as the result of their marriage as it discriminates against non-married people.
