Romney's Mormon Faith Proves Divisive
in response to reader comment: Concern for counterfeit Christianity is not Bigotry

If you are going to try to criticize the LDS (mormon) faith, then you need to get your facts strait. First off, Cane and Able were brothers and look how that turned out. Brothers can be extreamly different and could very logically be compolete opposites, like Christ and Satan. Second, women may earn heaven without being married, but men and women alike may not obtain the highest rank without being sealed to another person, this happens when they are married. The marriage ritiual, instead of being 'til death do us part, is an everlasting covanant and seals the couple together through all eternity on earth and in heaven. Third, polygamy was never practiced or indorced by the LDS faith. Plural marrige was at one time used to provide for the women of the church. Because of the ignorant mobs that pursicuted the mormons many of the morman men were killed and there for some men would be asked to take more than one wife so that all my be able to receive the glory of heaven. This practice has not been in existance in the LDS faith for over one hundred years now. Although Joseph Smith may have had more than one wife, although he never said he did, it was only to support the woman, not for lust or anyother emotion. After he died other women were also sealed to him, so that they could receive the highest degree of glory in heaven. Fourth, Joseph Smith did not die in a shoot out with law enforcement officals. Joseph Smith was shot in is jail cell along with other people in the cell with him trying to give himself up to the mob, not officials, shooting into the cell so they would not harm any of the others in there with him. Futhermore you cannot say that it indeed was a shoot out when Joseph Smith was unarmed and in a jail cell. In this country we beleive all people are innocent until proven guilty, and therefore you cannot convict Joseph Smith of wrong doings when he was shot before he could go to trial. Fifth, Joseph Smith had very little formal education and could not by himself have wrote the Book of Mormon, which I doubt you personally have read, and most of the Doctrine and Covenants. Sixth, the LDS church has done alot to help others in this country and around the world. When natural disasters hit, like Katrina, the LDS church is usually one of the first, if not the first, to resopnd and send humanitarrian aid and food to the affected places. They have wellfare help to those unable to afford to buy food. They help or have helped millions of people throughout the world, and will continue doing so.
