It's very difficult to change a public school and probably much easier to just start a new school. The Discovery School seems a little more self governing by the parents rather than the government. It sounds like some intelligent parents came along and tried to change things to better EVERYONE and got pushed out by unintelligent people more concerned with their pride rather than making their child's education better. PS 84 is a D school. I wouldn't be too proud of the education. It seems that the intelligent parents have no other choice other than to get another school. It's probably a good thing the Discovery School is not in the PS84 building because I'm sure there would be a lot of tension just passing people on the sidewalk.
