Carters' research might have turned up these two very curvateous buildings that our firm designed in the 1950's. Chatham Green , is a thin S-curved housing slab on Park Row near our Police Headquarters building that was commissioned by the Association for Middle Income Housing. At about the same time we designed the first High School, executed by private architects for the Board of Education, The Banjo School.(The George Wingate High School) Its circular form was a new concept in arranging classrooms around the perimeter of a central core of auditorium, gymnasium and cafeteria. They both won many awards at the time..
