The number of students that a school sends to Harvard should absolutely not be a reason to choose a school, nor should the school's net assets. These two criteria may be of interest to some private school seeking parents but there is tons more to consider. Having spent roughly 15 years researching and writing about education, particularly private schools, this kind of ranking is a total disservice. To find out what is most relevant about NYC's private schools try checking out my private school guide, "The Manhattan Family Guide to Private and Selective Public Schools," 5th edition, which at almost 500 pages offers what parents and students need to be well informed.
