It is what it is, and facts are facts. It is true that the list of New York City Independent Schools rankings are indeed correlated to real data regarding the number of students who got into Harvard- there really is no way to fudge that. In fact, The Wall Street Journal did a similiar article on November 30, 2007 ranking schools (both independent and public) in the United States who got into Harvard, and the schools at the top of their list concurred with the findings in Elizabeth Green's article. I understand that being a parent or a Head of one of the schools that ranked poorly would be upsetting, but there is something perhaps more important to keep in mind- not everyone wants to go to Harvard! There are some kids, for example, who are aspiring engineers and would prefer to be at M.I.T. or to go to Johns Hopkins for pre-med. The article does not look at that data or take that into account. So, while still considered a very prestigious and academically outstanding institution- Harvard ain't for everyone!
