John Frame, 90, Discovered Lassa Fever

Thanks for your article on my uncle, John D. Frame, and his work on discovering Lassa Fever. I appreciated all you wrote but wanted to add on the personal side that he was a life shaping and change agent for not only his children, but his extended family of nieces and nephews as well. Since his brother, my father, died 30 years ago, Uncle John served as the patriarch of our "clan" and attended all the various weddings and other family events through the years. In other words, his "importance" and success in the academic and medical worlds never stopped him from being a most accessible, wisdom filled, person with his family. The family gathering after his funeral looked like a mini-United Nations as his life lived among many nations and people was so powerfully reflected. Thanks, Uncle John, for being you and loving us all so well.
