A McClinton Consenus

Would you please try to explain why, on a day when the US Stock Market took one of its most desperate plunges, the Republican base votes in significant numbers for a professional politician who admits that his strengths don't lie in the field of economics? What is causing the base to look away from the facts of Romney's past record and performance?

Having just past page 320 in the first book of Winston Churchill's History of the Second World War, it feels like we're rambling down the same old rutted roads of political correctness and sloganism into a world of self-denial.

You are a balm for the intellect and beacon of hope in an increasingly dark world.

Best regards, Chris Crown
